Bespoke Riven Slate
Riven slate, is a resilient & durable natural material. The term ‘riven’ or ´rive’ describes the process of taring apart the stone at its natural point of fracture - not unlike splitting wood. The finished product, though cut and boxed as pictured, has a gentle roughness to it.
Each hearth is slightly different, each with its own grain. The hearth is then oiled which deepens the dark tones in the slate while also creating a barrier of protection. As part of our stove installations, we can have bespoke riven slate hearths cut to the specifications of you job.
Bespoke Derbyshire stone
Buff Derbyshire stone is a strong coarse grit stone quarried from the 'dark peak'. It is known for its golden hue and durability and has been traditionally used as a practical and decorative material throughout Sheffield and the peak district for hundreds of years. These hearths are made to measure and offer you the opportunity to bring a piece of local history into your home. The edges of these hearths can be finished with a smooth or rough edge.
Black Flagstone
Our flagstone hearths, offer a durable budget alternative to our bespoke hearths. These are made from black stone and consist of multiple pieces. The resulting finish is that of large tiles.
